"[She] could not have more closely resembled
[our] ideal if [she] had been made to order."
-Anne of the Island
There is an interesting story behind Miracle Maid To Order and her name. Before she was born, we were sincerely hoping for a black filly from our Heritage Hall's mare ("Marey"). We knew that, genetically speaking, there was a 50/50 chance of getting black or bay, but we were hoping for black, hoping for a filly, and hoping for some nice white markings to boot. To inform Marey of our wishes, Samantha wrote "black filly" on the wall of Marey's stall, and then we settled back to wait.
Marey decided to foal a week early, and much to our surprise, we went out to the barn early on Sunday morning, the 22nd of April, and were greeted by a brand new black filly. The filly looked up at us with her little dished head (which was adorned with a nice wide blaze), and as we looked a little closer at her legs, it was apparant that there were four white stockings. We were all overcome with delight at this beautiful Miracle, and there was no choice but to name her Miracle Maid To Order, as she arrived exactly according to our specifications.
When her registration papers arrived from the WPCSA, we were surprised and pleased to see that she was given the registration number: A-41000. We are honored that our Miracle Maid To Order is the forty-one thousandth Welsh registered with the WPCSA. It is our hope that her impact on the Welsh breed will be a significant one as she matures.
Miracle Maid To Order ("Chocie," as she is known to all who love her) made her debut in the Welsh breed ring, and placed first under Norman Kalinski and second under Dana Caudle at the WOW Mid-Summer Silver Show in July 2002. It was a large class of six Sec. A fillies 2 & under. Below is a picture of her at that show.
July 2003-- Chocie went to the MN Silver Show and in a class of five, placed 2nd under both judges (2nd to her little sister Miracle Penny's A Pip under judge Lorali Casipit of CA.)
August 2003-- At the Welsh of Wisconsin Silver Show (64 ponies shown) in Deerfield, Wisconsin, Chocie had a very good show! In the Novice Sec. A class (7 entries), she was 1st under judge Susan Stepney, and 2nd under judge Sarah Jane Martin. In the Sec. A 2 & under fillies class (6 entries), she was placed first under both judges, and she went on to be named Reserve Grand Champion Section A under both judges, (reserve to our Severn Buttons 'N Bows). Photos soon!!
October 2003-- After two more shows (The WOW End of Summer Classic and the Heart of MN Welsh Classic II), Chocie was awarded the following Year End Awards:
Welsh of Wisconsin Champion Sec. A 2 & Under Filly
Welsh of Wisconsin Champion Novice Sec. A (any age, any sex)
HMNW Res. Ch. Sec. A Filly 2 & Under
and, according to the WPCSA Completed 2003 Points, Chocie finished 10th in the nation for Sec. A fillies 2 & under. We are very delighted!
We finally have a photo showing Chocie at age two.... here it is:

July 2004
2005.... Chocie went to one Welsh Show, the Heart of Gold Show in MN, and placed 2nd and 3rd of 7 in a Sec. A mares class, then went on to be 1st in Leadline, 2nd in Leading Rein, and 1st in the Liberty Class. A very fun outing for Chocie. :-)

Chocie attended her first Welsh show of the year, and we were delighted that she placed 1st in the Home Bred Pony class! This was against all ages, all sections, and all sexes, and it was a lovely class. She also placed 2nd and 3rd in a very strong Sec. A mares class, so we were very pleased. Chocie has been started under saddle and is doing very well; she has a good attitude about her "job" and is very intelligent. Below are a couple of photos of her (video captures) taken in June.
